We’ve been hearing a lot of buzz coming from San Diego regarding this latest Froyo joint. Our friend has raved about how busy this establishment is and how good the yogurt actually is. We couldn’t pass up this opportunity while visiting our neighbor to the south on a recent weekend.
After a day of relaxing in Balboa Park and downtown San Diego, it was finally time to get our Froyo on.
Location:
Located on Convoy street in the Clairemont neighborhood of San Diego sits Yogurt World. They are located in a plaza that consists of a Boba shop, two Korean restaurants, Morning Glory, and an Irish pub. If you don’t know its there you might miss it, the plaza is currently undergoing renovation so the signs are not lit up at night.

Parking:
The parking lot in this plaza can get really impacted, especially on the weekend at night. One suggestion we have is to give the parking lot a shot, and if it is all full. Try parking in the street (Opportunity Road) next to the Infiniti dealership and along the side of the plaza. There was plenty of street parking on a Saturday night when we went so keep that as an option.
Inside the store:
We weren’t suprised to see that the place was packed to the brim full of fellow yogurt fanatics. Aligned on the right side of the store are their yogurt machines churning away 16 different flavors of frozen yogurt. On the left side opposite of the yogurt making machines is the seating area for patrons. As you make your way down filling up your cups with the plethora of yogurt flavors you are confronted with a bunch of toppings.
A list of the available flavors:
1. Plain (Tart)
2. Green Tea (Tart)
3. Mango (Tart)
4. Asian Peach
5. Vanilla Bean
6. Cappuccino
7. Very Strawberry
8. Chocolate
9. Vanilla Custard
10. Island Banana
11. Pistachio
12. Very Berry
13. Boysenberry
14. French Vanilla
15. Peanut Butter
16. Coconut

There are all your average toppings including nuts, crushed cookies, and dried fruits. Located next to those are your typical fresh fruits, which all looked very fresh by the way. There were some canned fruits mixed in there, from what I remember there were some canned Lychee. The holy grail of all yogurt lovers has to be the beloved rice cake or Mochi as some would like to call it. They have a tub there for you to help yourself with. I piled it on since thats my all time favorite topping and they had plenty of it.

Once your done loading up your cups with yogurt and toppings, the friendly cashier places your cup on a scale and weighs it for you. At $0.38 cents an ounce, our rather large cup came out to a little over five bucks. After getting our yogurt we were lucky enough to find a seat to plop down and dig into the yogurt.
The Froyo:
We tried four different flavors in our cup: Plain (tart), Mango(tart), Green tea (tart), and Strawberry (tart). The majority of our cup was piled high with plain, with just a few snippets of the other flavors to see how they actually tasted. The Mango, Green Tea, and Strawberry were not bad at all. A little sweet for my taste, but they each had that tangy tart taste that we are all addicted too. The plain however was extremely good. The texture was creamy smooth and not at all icy. Its important to note that upon releasing the handle of the yogurt machine, the yogurt flowed smoothly into our cups. The tartness was right on par with what Pinkberry produces. In all honesty, we were kinda thinking that Yogurt World’s plain was better then Pinkberry. But we won’t go that far out on a limb just yet.

For the toppings I filled my cup till it was overflowing with rice cake and a few blueberries on top for color and contrast. The rice cake here was also very good, just the right texture that blended perfectly with the plain tart yogurt. The yogurt also did not melt quickly as that of Yogurt Land’s that we tried a few weeks back. It might have been the weather that night, but our yogurt stared fairly stiff to the last spoon and there was minimal melted yogurt
at the bottom of the cup.

Conclusions:
Impressed is putting it modestly with our Yogurt World experience. We were actually very delighted at the atmosphere as we were with the frozen yogurt. There was a buzz and excitement in the store as everyone ventured into their own yogurt world creations. One thing that was very important was the noise level. At Yogurt Land, the yogurt machines were humming along inside the store. When you combine that with music and the hustle and bustle of patrons it becomes a very loud environment.
Yogurt World was more clever in their machine placement. Only the machines dispensing portion was exposed to the store, everything else was hidden behind the wall where all the noise was insulated. This created a quiet machine churning free environment for the customers. We could actually carry on a conversation while getting our yogurt.
