I’m going to keep this review short because we’ve reviewed many Pinkberry’s on our site. This is the latest Pinkberry to open in SoCal and it so happens to be located rather close to the beach. As with all Pinkberry locations, they seem to open their stores in areas where parking is at a premium.
Address:
5305 2nd Street, Suite 103
Long Beach, CA 90803

We parked a good four blocks away, but then again we were just browsing the shops on 2nd street as we looked for a place to eat lunch. If you do go down there, make sure to pay the meter or find parking in the residential areas. It’s probably going to get worse as summer approaches and more people head for the beach.
As usual, I got a small original with just mochi. The yogurt was very smooth and not icy, it had the slight tartness to it but it seemed like it lacked something. It could have been a little more tart for my taste. The interesting thing is that I haven’t found the Pinkberry yogurt to taste the same between the other stores I have been to.
M0chi got the green tea with strawberry and rice cake. Her strawberries looked a little weird, they weren’t the bright vibrant red that you would expect of fresh strawberries. And upon tasting them, they tasted very watered down. We suspect that they were using frozen strawberries as the fresh ones may be out of season. It would be better just to offer the fruits that are in season, then to defrost some frozen fruit and chop it up. All the other fruits in the display looked fresh however so that’s a relief.
We came to the agreement that Pinkberry is getting a little plain for us. Maybe we just eat to much Froyo lately, but Pinkberry used to get us excited. Could it be over franchising and the fact they are pretty much every where now? They are losing that exclusiveness perhaps. We’re going to try and branch out to other yogurt shops and find the true meaning.
