What’s better then frozen yogurt on a hot summer weekend here in SoCal? Actually stumbling upon this frozen yogurt store was an actual treat. I was headed to get some Jamba Juice, but the line was unbelievable and driving around I discovered this little gem. Located at the Lakewood Center Mall in Lakewood, CA is Bericup Frozen Yogurt How could we miss the bright vibrant colors of this new frozen yogurt shop. This is actually one of the first frozen yogurt places that I have seen in the Lakewood area, besides the Pinkberry’s that are located in Long Beach. The Bericup is actually located at the mall entrance to the food court, near the Macy’s. I would have never stumbled upon this place if I didn’t park near the food court because they are located on the outside edge of the mall. The map below is kinda deceiving, but the actual shop is located right at the “Lakewood Center Mall” text.

The store itself looks really nice, very Pinberry-ish with the vibrant colors and bright lighting to accentuate the toppings in the store.

On to the yogurt. Their prices start at $2.95 (Small), $3.95 (Medium), and $4.95 (Large) with one topping included. I think each additional topping is fifty cents. They had the four flavors of yogurt to choose from:
- Plain
- Green Tea
- Mango
- Strawberry
I sampled the green tea and didn’t like it too much because it seemed very sweet. I opted for a small plain with raspberries. I felt kinda ripped off on the toppings because I had a total of six raspberries. Every other frozen yogurt shop is not shy to pile it on for their customers. The toppings they did have were fresh though, but maybe that’s why they skimp out because its expensive.
They did not have mochi at the moment, but in a couple weeks because the guy said they are “being specially made” for their shop. I find this hard to believe because they probably purchase from the same distributor that sells to every other frozen yogurt joint in town.

After being disappointed with my toppings, I was pleaseantly pleased with the frozen yogurt itself. The consistency was very smooth and not icy. The flavor did not taste chalky and powdery like some other shops that we had tried. I did wish their frozen yogurt would have more of a tart taste to it. I could barely make it out. If they turn up the tart a little bit I think they have a winner. A bit pricey for our taste but for quality we don’t mind spending a little more. Also we think they shouldn’t skimp out on the toppings, its what makes the frozen yogurt.
If your in the area and don’t want Jamba Juice or Ice Cream then I would say give them a shot. They also have gelato if your not in the mood for frozen yogurt.

As a side note, I noticed that their logo was actually trade marked. Could this mean the start of yet another wannabe franchise? Oh not, not another frozen yogurt franchise…
