A rap legend once stated L.A. is the place to be.
How about adding a little froyo into the mix? Nowadays L.A. life without frozen yogurt, is like a jungle without trees.
So smack dab in the center of a crowded plaza on Los Feliz, there’s a hidden frozen yogurt find inside a quaint Japanese fast-food joint -

California Roll & Sushi

While their primary business is to fill customers’ stomachs with sushi, you’ve now got the added option of frozen yogurt.
Taste test: I opted for the traditional plain (they only offer two flavors) and got something a little over-sugary for my taste buds. But the toppings were very fresh - they had large pieces of mango, strawberry, all types of nuts, cereals, granola.. I decided on a colorful masterpiece. Again, the taste was a little candied - I think I could imagine kids would love something on this level of sugar. Although, I prefer something on the lighter side.

The scene: It’s a quick place to get sushi - so it’s also a quick place to get yogurt. I like that it’s a self-serve machine with only two options (less to think about), and you can help yourself to whatever toppings you want by the register.

You can even get all toppings for all they care - your price is based on weight rather than charging per topping (we’ve seen similar systems at Yogurt Land and Yogurt World). The dining area is tiny, but this is more of a get it on the go type of place. I do praise them for using interesting square clear cups. Something different.
I thought the girl who rang me up was exceptionally helpful, courteous, and I’m a definite sucker for wonderful service. Sure, I did the legwork filling up my froyo the way I wanted since it is self-serve, but it’s always a bonus when the staff still offers their advice.
While I wouldn’t say this is the best of the best frozen yogurts we’ve tried, I’d go simply for the fact that it’s convenient. You’re already making your rounds at the local Best Buy, Costco, and Toys’r'Us? Might as well pick up some froyo for your drive home, and if it’s for your kids, they’ll thank you.
