Say it aint so! Has one of the largest ice cream retailers succumbed to the craze of frozen yogurt?
We wouldn’t lie to you, I saw it first hand tonight at the South Coast Plaza Häagen-Dazs. There right before my very eyes was a frozen yogurt machine offering two flavors of frozen yogurt. They had self serve vanilla and vanilla tart at $0.49 an ounce.
They even had a small help yourself toppings bar offering: Kiwi, Blueberry, Strawberry, Blackberry, and Pineapple.
I tried a sample of both with pretty low expectations. But the vanilla tart was pleasantly smooth and creamy with a slight hint of tartness. The plain vanilla flavor was your typical American tasting frozen yogurt.
Although I was not drawn to put my money down for a cup full, I found the strategy interesting. I’m not so sure that this frozen yogurt is a corporate endorsed strategy. It could be the ownership jumping into the frozen yogurt craze without the knowing of the big wigs.
