A great all-star basketball weekend only gets better with the addition of a cold refreshing frozen yogurt.
Did I mention our froyo pick of the weekend was also 50% off?

Step on in, to a smaller joint behind the orange curtain..

Just recently opened, Wild Berry is a small mom-pop type shop located in a tiny plaza next to Duo Zone, a tasty Chinese-Japanese take-out restaurant and just minutes away from Fountain Valley’s reputable Mile Square Park.

I give Wild Berry an A+ for excellent service, the workers are well-mannered and enthusiastic so you enjoy the experience. You’re greeted as soon as you walk in, and given a quick run-down on how it all works. Much like the Yogurtlands, Yogurt Worlds, and Heaven’s Delight, among others, Wild Berry is all about self-serve.

Grab a cup, fill it up, and top it off! Flavors include: Plain, Green tea, mango, peach, strawberry, and blueberry.
Taste test: I’ve always been picky when it comes to plain, and while it’s not the best I’ve ever tasted, it’s OK, and works better with their toppings than alone. I prefer their plain and peach over the rest of their choices. But be warned, if you’re a stickler for the perfect plain flavor, the plain here will not meet your standards. The froyo texture itself was on the soft side and melted rather quickly, and some of the flavors were more watered down than others.

Toppings: Wide range includes all the dried varieties - the common cereals and candies, and I did enjoy their assortment of dark chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and yogurt chips. The fruit selection was also plentiful - including pineapple, kiwi, grapes, blueberries, blackberries.. the one thing I will note, is that their strawberries were cut rather large, and perhaps they were so fresh and sweet that I did spy a few leaves accidentally in the mix.
Another difference from Wild Berry, is you can mix up your froyo with some shaved ice and a wide selection of syrups. Being a closet shaved ice fanatic, I find this to be a delightful addition. Wild Berry also offers mochi ice cream but be warned they are a little pricier at 1.25 each. Definitely opt for yogurt.
Since you can fill it up yourself here, the price is 35 cents an ounce - fairly standard for most of the self-serve places we’ve seen.
The ambiance is cute, we’ve seen a number of hip yogurt places sprout up with the modern art-deco feel - Wild Berry has the pink chairs to match. Seating is limited to two tables and a couple of small benches, but it’s definitely a great place to take your froyo to-go. Cups of complimentary water are also offered at the front counter. Before making your trip, bring some cash, as this is all they accept (temporarily?) but there is an ATM next door if you need it.
Give it a try and let us know if you’re wild about it.
